No Child Left Inside ~ 2009 Events. All events are held in spite of rain unless it is lightening. We welcome brave soldiers who don't mind a misting! Just look for a gitm NCLI staff/volunteer. They will be wearing bright green! All under 18 years of age need to be accompanied by parent or guardian. The exeption are those under 18 years who are enrolled in the gitm Mentoring Program. Contact us to enroll your child!--We are also looking for applicants to serve as mentors (those 15-21 years old). Join the Cricket Capers Family Fun Walks Bring a friend, family or both and join us at Forest Park Nature Center for family fun walks this summer. There are stroller and wheelchair friendly trails too! Enjoy a relaxing trail or challenge yourself up a steeper hike. Nature treasure hunting provided for the kids (or the young at heart!). Learn about the National “No Child Left Inside Initiative” that is taking place right here in central Illinois. Become a part of the most innovative projects and research into childhood well-being! Farmdale Prairie Seed Planting June 5th at 2 p.m. Meet at the main parking lot. Lend a hand to the environment by planting prairie seed! Become stewards of your earth by making a difference! Bluebird house and Wood Duck house monitoring at Black Partridge Park and Farmdale Reservoir. Bring a water bottle, wear a sturdy pair of shoes! We will be helping out the Army Corps of Engineers by visiting the bluebird houses at these locations, documenting what we find in each house, do a little cleaning and repair. It doesn't take long, leaving us plenty of time to explore and play at these beautiful locations. Wood Duck house monitoring takes place at Farmdale Reservoir. Both locations boast great mountain bike trails, too! Outdoor Series at Camp WokandaOutdoor Artists Creative campers will enjoy a leisurely workshop on nature drawing. You don't have to be 'good' to enjoy this activity. Bring a small chair and any drawing materials you desire (i.e; drawing pad, crayons, colored pencils...). Join us by the pavillion! Friday, June 12th 9 a.m. Outdoor Photography Award winning nature photographer, Tina Gauwitz, will demonstrate and share nature photography tips. Workshop is suited for all ages (8-100). Bring a camera and enthusiasm.
